I guess I have come a long way, huh?

I must tell you, there are times when I feel I haven't accomplished anything in life. I fall prey into thoughts of the typical American Dream- if I only had a house, some kids, a decent husband, some pets, all would not be lost. I would not be living in vain. However, if you know me, you'll know that I am anything BUT typical. Besides, contrary to popular belief, now is not a good time to buy property. But that's a whole other post in and of itself.

My sister and I were driving over to New Cuyama (CA) yesterday and she very much put things into perspective for me. She mentioned how much I had done for myself, seen some things this wonderful world has to offer. She mentioned certain things that she admired about me. And let me tell you, being admired my oldest sister (on my Mom's side) means a lot to me.

Anyhow, she stated that I had done more than her and my other sister took the time or effort to do; I got involved in school, FINISHED high school, had a chance to drive a couple of new vehicles, lived on my own, attended college, took on the challenge at a young age to drive hours away from home on my own (Which by the way, I still do. I love the taking the seven-hour drive to visit my parents in Arizona on my own. It gives me time to think). She also pin-pointed that I was forced to be an individual fairly early on in life. I grew up as an only child, really. Both my sisters were well into their teens when I was born and left the house soon after. I'm thinking I was about three when they did so.

Case in point; I have to remind myself that I do have a lot to offer, that I have come a long way and done plenty for myself on my own, and that I also have so much more that I want to accomplish. Not all is lost. I am merely self-sufficient. Most importantly though, I love my sister and she admires me. And sometimes, that's all that matters.

On a completely separate and random note:
I'm gonna make the effort to write on more cheerful topics. Such as...oh, I don't know. My sarcasm? Mmmm, yes.

"Tu me manques également."

It is now 12:10 am on a Sunday morning and I really ought to be studying. (I don't care to go out much lately) Anyhow, I had a nice quiet day today (or should I say yesterday) with my dearest Amber and I just wanted to share.

Amber has quickly become one of my most closest and dearest of friends, who by chance and wondrous opportunity has introduced me to some amazing French and French Canadian ladies. I met these girls late February, early March and I must say I have never had such an instantaneous connection with anyone like I have with these people. If I have before, it has been quite rare because I truly can't recall. Don't get me wrong, I love all my close friends dearly but I suppose it makes things extra special when you can connect with people from an entirely different country and who speak a different language.

So, I happened to be in Amber's side of town yesterday and I decided to give her a surprise visit. We ended up watching some videos and reviewing pictures of her visit to Quebec and pictures from when the girls came to visit California. Among her files were videos of the folk group named Le Vent du Nord (wind of the North) who by the way we would listen to nearly non-stop while these girls were here, and one of this young girl singing some traditional Quebecois folk songs like an amazing little songbird. By the way, if you know of the Quebecois culture, you are aware that these people can chime into any folk song en masse, in unison, at any given moment. This is precisely what we began to discuss; their altogether joyous approach to life. It brought us both to tears. Really. We started to wonder why we as westerners are so uptight, always on the go and are never in tune with any part of our history. It made me truly miss my new friends and it made me well aware of how blessed I am to have met them. It also made me wonder why I choose to live here. Seriously.

I've met these girls at the most opportune moment in my life. I have plans to go see them as soon as I graduate. Which more than likely will not be for another 18 months or so since I have just started my program of study. However, I sincerely doubt that I will be able to wait that long.

I miss my girls.

"I miss you, [just as] equally."

Me? Blogging?!

Okay, so...I never thought I'd be one to jump on the blogging band wagon yet here I am blogging.
Let's see what type of nonsensical randomness I am able to come up with.

Thanks a lot Cyn. ;)

For those of you that aren't aware, I've finally gotten "with it" and enrolled at University of LaVerne's business program. It's proven to be fun and enlightening. It's quite refreshing to be able to deal with educated people at the end of a long day at work.
I hate to sound so judgmental but the kids at the community college for which I work for can be pretty dense.

Anyhow, I'm headed off to see my friends' rehearsal for the upcoming folklorico show. Which by the way, you people should go see.

Oh! Did I mention I very much like taking photos of people? Here's one of my dear friend Blanca that you might like. (Hey, I said I was going to be random.)

Blanca...

Love,
E
